About SameSet
What exactly does SameSet do?
It connects copies of one Ableton Live project on different Macs. When someone moves a fader, adds a clip or drops in a sample, it appears in everyone’s Live within a fraction of a second.
Does it stream audio between us?
No. Each person hears their own Live on their own Mac. SameSet syncs the project itself — use a voice call to talk.
Does it work on Windows?
Not yet. SameSet runs on macOS 13 or newer.
Which Live versions are supported?
Live 12 — Intro, Standard and Suite. Everyone should ideally use the same version.
Is SameSet made by Ableton?
No. SameSet is an independent product and is not affiliated with Ableton.
Plans
Who pays?
Only the host — the person who shares the project. Collaborators and viewers join for free.
What does “You + 1 collaborator” mean?
The number of people who can edit, counting the host. On Free that’s two people: you and one friend. Duo — you and three more. Pro and Studio — you and nine more.
How are hours counted?
Only while at least two people are in your room. Time alone doesn’t count. Free: 30 minutes a week, Duo: 24 hours a month, Pro: 100 hours, Studio: unlimited.
What is the project size limit?
The total size of the project with samples in your open rooms: Free 100 MB, Duo 5 GB, Pro 20 GB, Studio 100 GB.
How do I pay, cancel or get a refund?
Payment is handled by Paddle. Upgrade in SameSet → Plans; cancel in Account → Manage subscription. You can get a full refund within 14 days — see the Refund Policy.
Can I pay from Russia?
Our payment provider doesn’t accept payments from Russia at the moment. Joining rooms as a collaborator is free everywhere.
Files and privacy
Do you store my projects?
No. Files are held on our server only while the room is in use and are deleted automatically about 10 minutes after the host ends the session, or 24 hours after the last activity. Keep your own backups.
Who can see my project?
Only people who have your room code. Share the code only with people you trust. Our team doesn’t listen to or analyse your music.
Is the connection encrypted?
Yes, everything travels over an encrypted connection. It is not end-to-end encrypted: while the session is open, the server processes the files in order to pass them on.
Technical
Do my collaborators need the same plugins?
Yes. SameSet shows which plugins are missing before you join. Plugin settings (presets) are sent after ⌘S.
How much internet do I need?
5 Mbit/s is enough for editing. Uploading and downloading samples takes longer on slow connections. Delay to our server in Europe under 150 ms feels instant.
Can I use SameSet with a controller or Push?
Yes. SameSet takes one Control Surface slot; your controllers keep working in the other slots.
How do I switch the app language?
SameSet follows your macOS language. To change it, click the settings button (sliders icon) in the SameSet panel → Language → English or Русский.
Does SameSet slow down Live?
No. It listens to changes and sends them; heavy work like uploading files happens outside Live.
