Join a session

You don’t need a paid plan to join. You need SameSet installed and the code from the host.

   Install SameSet

   If you haven’t yet, follow Install and set up — it takes about three minutes.

   Click “Join with code”

   Open SameSet and click Join with code.

   Paste the code

   Paste the code from the host (Paste button) — for example K7M-4QX — and click Join. Letters are not case-sensitive and the dash is optional.

Check the project before downloading

SameSet shows the project name, host, size, Live version and plugins:

• Plugins: 7 of 8 installed — the missing plugin is listed by name. The project still opens, but that device will be silent until you install it.
• Project from Live 12.4, you have 12.2 — update Live first, otherwise the set may not open.
• The host hasn’t shared the project yet — keep the window open: the download starts by itself as soon as the host presses ⌘S.

Open the project

   Wait for the download

   The project and all its samples download to ~/Music/SameSet/room code/project name.

   Click “Open in Live”

   Your current set in Live closes — if it has unsaved changes, Live asks whether to save them.

   Start working

   When the panel says Everything in sync, you’re in. Try moving a fader — the host sees it move.

Joining as a viewer

With a viewer code you watch and listen as the track comes together. You can touch anything in your copy, but your changes stay with you and are never sent to the room.

Leaving

Full panel → Session → Leave room. The project stays on your Mac in ~/Music/SameSet. If the host ends the session you get a notification, and your copy stays too.
