Your first session as host

The host is the person who shares the project. Only the host needs a plan — everyone else joins for free.

Example
  1. Max in Berlin has a set called Night Drive and wants Lisa in London to add a bassline.
  2. Max opens Night Drive in Live, clicks Share and presses ⌘S.
  3. A minute later SameSet shows the code K7M-4QX. Max sends it to Lisa in a chat.
  4. Lisa enters the code, the set opens on her Mac with all samples — and from now on they see each other’s changes.

Before you start

  • Open the project in Live and make sure it plays correctly on your Mac.
  • Save it in its own folder. For a brand-new set, Live will ask where to save it the first time.
  • Check the size: on the Free plan a project can be up to 100 MB including samples. Duo — 5 GB, Pro — 20 GB, Studio — 100 GB.
  • Tell your collaborators which plugins you use — they need them installed too.

Share the project

  1. 1

    Click “Share”

Open SameSet from the menu bar or the panel over Live and click Share — under it you’ll see the name of the set open in Live.

  2. 2

    Press ⌘S in Live

Switch to Live and press ⌘S. SameSet waits for the save: at that moment it reads the set and collects every sample it uses.

    SameSet
Save the project in LivePress ⌘S in “Night Drive” — the project goes to the room with all samples
⌘S did nothing? Live doesn’t save a set without changes. Nudge any knob and press ⌘S again.
    Upload

  3. 3

    Wait for the upload

SameSet uploads the project and samples over an encrypted connection. Identical files are uploaded once.

  4. 4

    Copy the code

You’ll see a room code like K7M-4QX. Click Copy and send it to your collaborators in any messenger.

    SameSet
    Code for collaborators
    K7M-4QXCopy
Collaborators edit the project with you

Pressed ⌘S and nothing happened? Live doesn’t save a set that hasn’t changed since the last save — so SameSet never hears about it. Change anything small (nudge a track’s volume, move a clip, add and remove a device) and press ⌘S again. After 12 seconds SameSet reminds you of this right in the panel.

Who can join

  • Collaborators use the collaborator code and can edit the project. Free: you + 1 collaborator. Duo: you + 3. Pro and Studio: you + 9.
  • Viewers use the separate viewer code and can only watch and listen — great for students, streams and clients. Pro: 5 viewers, Studio: 100.
  • If the room is full, you’ll see “Name wants to join” with a button to upgrade.

You can also send a link instead of a code: sameset.app/r/K7M4QX. It opens SameSet with the code already filled in.

During the session

Work as usual. The panel shows who’s in the room, which track each person is on and the connection delay. Learn what syncs instantly in Working together.

End the session

Open the full panel → SessionEnd session for everyone. Everyone keeps their copy of the project, and the room’s files are deleted from our server within about 10 minutes. The code stops working.

Hours on your plan

Time counts only while at least two people are in the room. Free includes 30 minutes a week, Duo 24 hours a month, Pro 100 hours, Studio is unlimited. Two minutes before the time runs out everyone gets a warning; then syncing pauses, but nobody loses anything.
